Managed by Wildlife Reserves Singapore, Night Safari is a nocturnal zoo which is first of its kind in the world. The splendour and excitement here is best witnessed when the sun goes down. Spread across 40 hectares of secondary forest, Night Safari is home to more than 1000 night-time animals of 100 diverse species. 29 % of the species found in this exceptional nocturnal zoo are among threatened species.
There are many reasons that lead to the inception of Night Safari. Among the many reasons was the immense popularity among both locals and international travellers for night time tours at the Zoo during the 1980s. Offering a unique wildlife experience whilst putting tropical animals on view by night seemed to be of high demand also because the majority of tropical animals are active by night. The other main reason why Night Safari became a reality was Singapore’s punctual and beautiful sunset that occurs at 7.30pm.
After four years of intense planning and three years of constructing, Night Safari opened its gates to the public in May 26, 1994. This remarkable endeavour cost nearly 63 million Singaporean dollars. This mesmerizing safari park is segregated in to 8 geological zones and there are a total of 3 trails; therefore the park can be explored either on foot or tram.
There are some awe-inspiring activities that can be enjoyed at Night Safari. For instance, visitors can take a picture with their much loved animal for a cost of only 5 Singaporean dollars that goes directly towards the funding of animal conservation.
The creatures of the night show is a captivating show that is renowned all over the world. The cultural performances at Night Safari are a special display executed by tribal performers. The fragrant walk is a trail that consists of 4000 fragrant plants and it is mainly created to lighten up the visitor’s mood.
The Night Safari boasts of a signature restaurant that can accommodate up to 600 guests who can choose from either buffet or a la carte menu. The restaurant features an extensive range of diverse, delectable Singaporean and international cuisine.
